The Business Development Manager is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, and advancement of our most critical client-centric business development strategies.

Working collaboratively with all levels of staff and lawyers firmwide across practices and departments, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and executing on business development consistent with the firm's strategies for our practices, industries and strategic initiatives, with a focus on the Antitrust practice.

The ideal candidate will be a key strategist and facilitator of practice generation and business growth. The Business Development team drives the growth of the firm's market share and competitive position through the development and implementation of transformative business and client development and growth strategies across practice groups, industries and strategic initiatives. This position requires working collaboratively to develop recommendations, partner with senior leaders and partners to drive implementation, facilitate communication processes, and develop pragmatic solutions to drive successful business and client development initiatives in the United States and globally. This position will reside in in any one of our Boston, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, or Washington, D.C. offices. Key responsibilities:

With input from leaders and senior team members, the Business Development Manager will identify strategic growth goals, formulate business development action items, and drive follow up and execution. Business development plans will include internal knowledge sharing, external profile building and initiatives, client-engagement activities, pitches and proposals, and events to help grow practice and build relationships. Specifically, the role will:

Develop strategic growth goals with input from leaders and senior team members

Prepare and manage implementation plans, regularly reviewing progress to ensure strategies remain relevant and aligned with firm growth priorities

Lead practice generation-focused programs and activities.

Collaborate with lawyers to prepare compelling pitches and proposals and track activity.

Identify specific clients to target for increased revenue generation and develop a plan regarding how to accomplish same.

Identify cross-collaboration opportunities for clients to expand work across new practice areas and geographies; work with RAs to develop plan regarding same.

Identify and review market, industry and legal trends; analyzes and applies this information in development of go-to-market growth strategies

Prepare data analysis as-needed (e.g., top clients, client work by practice, client work by segment, RA/AIC lists, matter descriptions/narratives, etc.), and prepare analysis and reports on key metrics such as strategic priorities, and industry and practice trends and developments for leadership and firm management.

Work on projects and initiatives cross-functionally with multiple teams including marketing & communications, business intelligence, business operations, competitive intelligence, and practice operations.

Attend industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows to build relationships and promote the fi m.

Develop and manage the business development budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize ROI.

Experience and qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and seven years of related business/client development, and/or marketing experience including proven strategic planning and execution expertise. MBA desired.

Law firm or other professional services consulting, business/client development, or marketing experience preferred.

Knowledge of the competitive landscape challenging major global law firms is a significant benefit, with emphasis on trends and business issues, including Antitrust and Competition.

Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement strategic business development plans.

Experience excelling in a highly matrixed work environment with ability to work across multiple business units and functional teams.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with partners, lawyers, executives, and all levels of employees across the firm in addition to clients and vendors effectively.

Strong financial acumen, analytical, and project management skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and effective presentation skills.

Prior experience creating and presenting strategic growth plans to senior management.

Orientation to detail while understanding and driving towards the macro picture.

Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit, yet highly collaborative in working with colleagues across departments, offices, and skill levels.

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills and ability to manage and motivate staff.

Discretion with confidential information.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, familiarity using a CRM system, and ability to adapt to new software programs.

Flexibility with working hours and business travel.

For positions in New York, NY and San Francisco, CA, the salary range for this job posting is: $113,580.00 - $181,728.00

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
