Seeking a Principal Design Engineer with technical, business and financial acumen who will report to Director of Technology, Research, and Global Project Engineering within the Global Repair and Overhaul Engineering Services (GROE) team. The role will be responsible for providing extensive mechanical aftermarket product design knowledge and experience relating to Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) products. The individual will be required to lead novel, Bigger, Bolder, Faster and Make it Happen engineering projects relating to Productivity, Cost takeout, Value Engineering and Workscope standardization programs to ensure that business objectives are achieved through Product Design improvements. This position will be located at Phoenix Sky Harbor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product-focused to add value by changing the current design to support business objectives

  • Ensure a disciplined and data driven approach is utilized for technical decisions

  • Lead one or more Model Management Teams comprised of cross-functional stakeholders

  • Support GROE productivity goals utilizing the Value Creation Process

  • Drive GROE material savings financial acumen to ensure productivity compliance

  • Meet critical milestones through robust Project Planning and Management

  • Develop innovative repair designs to restore Aftermarket parts

  • Identify key technologies for development of new and novel tools to support effective troubleshooting and advanced repairs of electronic systems

  • Operate as a team member in Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma and Honeywell Operating System (HOS) initiatives

  • Provide technical support to the OEM for any changes in technical publications

  • Establish a technical interface between Honeywell customer support representatives and customers

  • Partner with our customers to identify and execute actions to drives future growth opportunities

  • Provide primary technical direction to GROE site engineers

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

YOU MUST HAVE

  • BS in Engineering

  • 10 years engineering experience

WE VALUE

  • Master’s Degree in engineering, Science or Business

  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Design for Six Sigma, Black Belt/MBB or Lean Expert/Lean Master certifications

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, able to interface with all professional and technical disciplines within a repair environment

  • Program Management experience

  • Advanced communications/presentation/ leadership/people skills are essential

  • Strong experience presenting projects to executive level leadership

  • Strong interpersonal skills working in a team environment with positive interaction

  • Strong network across technical community

  • Intimate familiarity with FAA Aftermarket regulations

  • Ability to think big, bold, courageous, challenges conventional wisdom and legacy practices
