ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sr Advanced Systems Engineer will be part of the System Engineering team for the Compact Fly-By-Wire (CFBW) product line. Typical CFBW customers include Urban Air Mobility (UAM) & VTOL air vehicles, unmanned Cargo and Part 23 fixed-wing aircraft. The Fight Systems CoE Flight Controls team develops state-of-the-art flight controls for air transport, regional, and business aircraft.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs system engineering activities integral to developing certified flight controls products. This includes developing and managing system level requirements, as well as SW based implementation, integration and verification activities associated with these functions

  • Develops planning documents, implementing work instructions, processes & tools

  • Support the Core CFBW program scope and/or individual customer programs

  • Interface with the customer, certification agencies, third party suppliers, global resources, and with peer

  • Verification and Validation

  • Requirement Analysis

  • Travel: up to 15% (US/International)

    U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

MUST HAVE

  • 6+ years' experience directly related to flight control system development and/or related avionics functionality

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering

  • Experience in all aspects of the systems engineering process, from requirements analysis through verification testing

  • Advanced knowledge of the systems development lifecycle

  • Integration and test experience with flight control systems in a flight test environment

  • Experience in control law analysis and development, flight control system development, Fly-By-Wire, avionic system development

  • Familiarity with DO-178, DO-254

  • Proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, Python

  • Expertise in requirements development and technical writing

  • Data analytics experience and strong math skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Extensive applicable experience with aircraft avionics development and testing

  • Leadership capability, including abilities to lead and influence technical community

  • Experience leading small teams of engineers and providing coordination/direction to larger team

  • Ability to quickly analyze, incorporate, and apply new information and concepts

  • Adept with a diverse and global team

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done

  • Ability to adapt to project change
