Hartzell Propeller 

Hartzell Propeller LLC (HPI) was founded in 1917 and is headquartered in Piqua, Ohio. HPI is a world class engineering and manufacturing company offering the broadest range of propeller systems in the aviation industry. We design, develop, test, manufacture, and support constant-speed aluminum and composite propeller systems for all categories of aircraft, ranging from general aviation to military applications. The company traces its history to 1914, where a relationship between Orville Wright and Robert Hartzell led to the manufacture of the first Hartzell propeller.  

 

Key Responsibilities

Hartzell seeks an experienced Data Applications Engineer with a strong focus on SQL to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing, developing, and maintaining data-driven applications and systems that support our business intelligence, analytics, and data processing needs. This role requires a deep understanding of SQL databases, data modeling, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable data solutions. The Data Applications Engineer will be responsible to support the existing ERP initiatives and reporting.  This position is responsible to support all sites in the Hartzell family so the candidate could work from the Ohio, Alabama, Minnesota or Oklahoma site.

 

Key Deliverables

1) Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.

a. Design, develop and maintain efficient reusable, and reliable SQL code to support data applications and analytical reports.

b. Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations in Power BI, leveraging SQL, Python and R to provide dynamic and interactive insights.

2) Develop and optimize SQL databases, data warehouses and data lakes for optimal performance and scalability.

a. Implement data pipelines, ETL Processes, and data integration tasks to ensure seamless data flow across systems.

b. Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation and cleaning processes.

3) Stay current with the latest technologies and best practices in data engineering; propose improvement to our data systems.

4) Actively support and enhance existing ERP initiatives, focusing on the integration of ERP data with other business intelligence tools and databases.

a. Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards within the ERP system, ensuring they meet organizational needs for real time data access and decision support.

b. Collaborate with ERP users and IT staff to understand business processes and requirements, aiming to optimize ERP system performance and functionality through tailored data applications and reporting solutions.

c. Participate in ERP upgrade projects, including testing and validating data integrity and application performance post-upgrade.
