Luminator Technology Group Cyber Engineer (Network Security) in Plano, Texas

Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Network Cyber Security Engineer role to join our growing and dynamic IT team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator.

The Cyber Engineer focusing on Network Security at Luminator Technology Group is tasked with safeguarding the organization's network infrastructure. This involves configuring, managing, and monitoring firewalls, deploying intrusion detection systems, and conducting regular security assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Networking Fundamentals : A strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, subnetting, VLANs, and OSI model, is essential for analyzing and securing network infrastructures.

  • Security Protocols : In-depth knowledge of security protocols such as SSL/TLS, IPsec, SSH, and VPNs is crucial for implementing secure communication channels and protecting data in transit.

  • Firewall Management : Proficiency in configuring, managing, and monitoring firewalls to control incoming and outgoing network traffic, as well as implementing rule sets to enforce security policies.

  • Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS) : Ability to deploy, configure, and maintain IDPS solutions to detect and mitigate network-based threats in real-time, including intrusion attempts, malware, and suspicious activities.

  • Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) : Experience in conducting regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify weaknesses in network infrastructure and applications, as well as recommending and implementing remediation measures.

  • Network Access Control (NAC) : Understanding of NAC solutions to enforce security policies and control access to network resources based on user identity, device type, and compliance status.

  • Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) : Proficiency in deploying and managing SIEM solutions to aggregate, correlate, and analyze security event logs from various network devices and systems for threat detection and incident response.

  • Encryption Technologies : Familiarity with encryption algorithms, protocols, and key management practices to protect data confidentiality and integrity across the network, including data-at-rest and data-in-transit encryption.

  • Network Forensics : Knowledge of forensic techniques and tools for investigating security incidents, analyzing network traffic, and reconstructing attack scenarios to support incident response and post-incident analysis.

  • Security Best Practices and Compliance : Understanding of industry standards, regulations (such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS), and best practices related to network security, as well as experience in implementing security controls to achieve compliance requirements.

  • Scripting and Automation : Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools to streamline security operations, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance the efficiency of network security processes.

  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving : Ability to analyze complex network security issues, identify root causes, and devise effective solutions to mitigate risks and enhance the overall security posture of the network infrastructure.

  • Communication and Collaboration : Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively communicating security risks, incident reports, and recommendations to stakeholders, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement security measures and respond to incidents promptly.

Position Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Work Experience: Proven experience in network security.

  • Technology Experience: Proficiency with security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.

  • Skills and Abilities: Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills.

Location: Hybrid role that requires occasional in-office presence.
