About This Role

We are seeking an excited-to-learn, detail-oriented, motivated Junior Accountant to join our accounting team. The Junior Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, managing accounts receivable inquiries, handling sales tax issues, and assisting with various accounting tasks as needed.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Process and submit payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Reconcile payroll accounts regularly to ensure the accuracy and completeness of records.

  • Manage payroll-related tasks such as setting up accounts in new jurisdictions, updating unemployment rates, and handling amended returns.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.

  • Manage basic accounts receivable inquiries from customers and provide exceptional customer service.

  • Deposit cash receipts and apply them to open accounts receivable in our billing solution.

  • Assist in managing sales tax issues and reconciliations to ensure compliance with tax regulations.

  • Perform other accounting activities as needed, including assisting with prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accounts payable transactions.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.

  • Participate in audits and provide support during audit processes.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal controls and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.

  • One to three years of experience in an accounting role is a plus – but being able to learn quickly is just as good!

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Excel, including array formulas (e.g., vstack, filter, choosecols), advanced functions (e.g., xlookup, sumifs, index/match), pivot tables, and PowerQuery.

  • Understand accounting processes, related risks, and controls, and possess a desire for continuous process improvement.
