Introduction

The IBM Storage Software team is looking for a Performance and automation Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will be working on the IBM STORAGE -CEPH offering. You'll be required to interpret test requirements for customer use cases and develop innovative automated solutions for testing real-world customer workflows in test environments. As a Software Quality Engineer, you will need to have experience with large and complex systems and be able to think creatively, learn new things, and adapt to a constantly changing environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities

You will be part of the Storage Development Business of Infrastructure organization with the following key responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive performance testing plans for Ceph storage systems.

• Analyze metrics, identify improvement areas, and collaborate with teams for enhancements.

• Conduct scalability and stress testing to ensure system robustness.

• Design, implement, and maintain automated Ceph storage test scripts.

• Integrate tests into CI/CD, work with developers for efficient automation.

• Troubleshoot and resolve automation failures promptly.

• Establish and maintain Ceph storage benchmarking standards.

• Conduct regular tests, assess capabilities, and identify potential bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with teams to optimize system performance based on benchmarks.

• Generate detailed performance reports and maintain documentation.

• Communicate test progress, results, and risks to relevant stakeholders.

• Collaborate across teams to enhance overall system performance.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 5 - 10 years of experience in performance testing and automation

• Proficiency in performance testing tools and reporting tools.

• Strong scripting and programming skills (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation.

• Experience with benchmarking tools and methodologies.

• In-depth knowledge of Ceph storage architecture, components, and deployment.

• Hands-on experience with configuring and tuning Ceph clusters.

• Understanding of RADOS, CephFS, and RBD (Rados Block Device).

• Familiarity with automation frameworks like Pytest, Robot Framework, or others.

• Ability to design and implement end-to-end automation solutions.

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Knowledge of Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Tekton, or similar tools,

• Strong analytical skills to identify performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot and debug complex system issues.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Knowledge of Opensource development, working experience in Opensource projects.

• Certifications related to Ceph storage and performance testing are a plus.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their storage services.

• Experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana) and logging frameworks.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.

• Knowledge of AI/ML, exposure to Gen AI
