Amazon Senior Supplier Manufacturing Engineer, Project Kuiper Supply Chain in Redmond, Washington

Key job responsibilities

The Kuiper team is looking for a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to support business and engineering stakeholders in developing, implementing and monitoring manufacturing processes/controls within our supply base. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record working with a global supply base on scaling manufacturing in order to achieve business needs. Experience working in new and ambiguous environments while solving complex problems with a broad range of cross functional stakeholders will be an advantage.

• Responsible for supplier readiness to support Kuiper ground systems production needs including capital equipment and tooling needs.

• Own continuity of supply, quality, reliability, and cost targets.

• Collaborate with engineers to gain an in-depth knowledge of RF electronics and antenna systems.

• Support sourcing managers to strategically source parts matched with supplier competencies by reviewing and assessing supplier manufacturing capability, processes and quality systems.

• Conduct independent research to identify potential new sources and suppliers, and useful new capabilities in manufacturing.

A day in the life

In this role as Sr. Supplier Manufacturing Engineer, you will be actively working with Ground Systems Engineering team, sourcing, quality, digital operations and security team to develop and implement manufacturing process across global supply base. The products will enable mission critical, high throughput communications with Kuiper satellites. You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to manufacture, test, and distribute solutions and products globally enabling Kuiper’s global network.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 5+ years relevant experience

  • Experience developing, implementing and monitoring manufacturing processes and controls at suppliers

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, supply chain or operations

  • Experience with supplier management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in ramping up suppliers manufacturing operations.

  • Experienced with various RF electronics or PCBA manufacturing processes, including assembly and test methods at component level, subsystem, and system level

  • Technical leadership role in new product introduction (NPI) and associated process to transition to manufacturing

  • Formal training/certification in Operational Excellence Systems (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.) a plus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
