Blue Origin LLC Test Engineer - Avionics, Instruments & GNC in Seattle, Washington

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a small, hard-working, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for driving test campaigns in support of manufacturing and qualifying flight avionics hardware. You will coordinate test system requirements with avionics subsystem owners, integration and test engineers, and operations personnel. This hands-on position requires experience in developing and validating environmental and EMI/EMC test plans and completing test campaigns to produce reliable flight hardware for re-usable launch vehicles. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities: Develop and maintain avionics test plans and automated test equipment in compliance with company standards Develop and maintain test standards, work with subsystem partners, and support procurement of capital equipment to maintain test readiness Validation of automated test equipment and systems Facilitate performance testing, calibration, environmental testing of avionics development hardware per test plans Provide support to identify root cause for failures and lead the rework of prototype hardware during development test and debug cycles Establish and maintain test result metrics to support continuous improvement in data reduction, retention, and reporting methods and standards Maintain automated test equipment configuration control and traceability to support quality audits Facilitate transition of development avionics hardware into production Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. in electrical, computer engineering or related field 3+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining test chambers and automated test and measurement equipment Sound knowledge of electronics, electrical circuit fundamentals Sound knowledge of EMI/EMC standards, IEC & automotive standards or equivalent Familiar with hardware development life cycle Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Passion for hands-on problem solving and avionics integration and test Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs Ability to travel to and work at remote sites for extended periods supporting test integration, commissioning, and training Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of coordinated test and operations experience (aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft, racing teams) Experience running sophisticated projects combining hardware, firmware, and software Experience leading the development and testing of real-time embedded systems with a focus on modular and extensible architectures Experience developing hardware to IPC J-STD-0001xS, IPC/WHMA-A-620x-S, and/or NASA-STD-8739.n standards Experience with safety-critical systems development (automotive, aerospace, medical, etc.) Compensation range for on site CA applicants is $109,980-$153,972 Other site ranges may differ Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
