We are looking for a Lead Engineering Compliance Technician to be part of a team that design and develop test procedures and standards for highly complex products. You will participate in the development and certification of environment test functionality across multiple products and applications. This will enable you to support new products, processes, standards or operational plans within the organization's business strategies, with a direct impact on business results.
This role will report to our site in St. Charles, IL.
Key Responsibilities
Act as regulatory technical expert to support compliance of Fire products
Interpret regulatory standards and advise engineering teams so they meet product requirements
Clarify necessary document changes and guide technical publication team to mitigate concerns
Define product approval strategy in the areas of design, functionality and documentation
Prepare test plans, setup systems, coordinate testing and obtain approval results with agencies
Perform software & hardware testing to identify performance gaps & improvement opportunities
Analyze task risks, deadlines & priorities to help management derive realistic project schedules
Resolve ongoing compliance concerns with engineering, marketing & technical publication teams
Utilize quality control procedures and approval guides to perform responsible test executions
Direct group of global team members on test methodologies to comply with local requirements
Develop standard work, implement best practices and train engineering team members
Maintain product & equipment compliance to latest changes from UL/ULC, EN, ISO, FM and other global standards
Resolve manufacturing audit concerns by providing accurate & complete information
Utilize resources and optimize strategies for fastest way to execute projects
Identify test failure root causes and work with engineers on corrective action to resolve failures
Be an excellent liaison between agencies and Honeywell engineering & quality teams
YOU MUST HAVE
2+ years experience installing, maintaining, or manufacturer’s training certification on Fire Alarm Control Systems
Knowledge of the New Product Development process of electrical, electronic, or electro-mechanical products
WE VALUE
Associates Degree or higher degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
Experience with agency standards, i.e. UL, FM, etc.
SMD Soldering skills
Experience testing and troubleshooting embedded systems
Independently manage multiple projects
Capability to analyze requirements & manage product compliance from application to approval
Ability to use or learn and use lab equipment and relevant software. Examples include: using oscilloscope, developing loads, dielectric testers, transient machine, environmental & RFI/EMI chambers, soldering skill
Ability to use or learn mechanical tools such as drills, fasteners, hand saws, and hand tools
Demonstrated ability to work with engineers and/or agency representatives
Proven experience to engage multidisciplinary teams to resolve problems
Established skills to organize logistical challenges, prioritize concerns & manage resolutions
Active NICET-2 certification
