Job Description Summary

Join us as a Manufacturing Engineer and you will support the current manufacturing of HVDC Products whilst collaborating closely with a highly diverse and experienced Global Supply Chain team. You will have a key role in developing and executing the strategic initiatives that align with the company’s goals of improving sustainability performance by implementing sustainable practices and technologies.

You will bring fresh ideas and experience on realising innovative solutions to enable products to be manufactured through economically-sound processes that minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. Your ideas for sustainable and environmentally friendly change in process and operations will have positive impact and set an example for years to come.

An ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and technical engineering knowledge to be able to develop initiatives for finding effective ways to implement solutions to improve sustainability in the HVDC product manufacturing lifecycle.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage strategic initiatives, including the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement in strategic planning and execution.

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify growth and sustainability opportunities to be able to make informed recommendations. Draft and implement sustainable departmental policies that address environmental concerns.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of initiatives and sustainability opportunities. Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate progress, results, and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Monitor and track the progress of initiatives and sustainability opportunities, ensuring they stay on track and align with the company's strategic and sustainability direction. Identify and mitigate risks and obstacles that may arise during the implementation of initiatives and sustainability improvements.

  • Conducts research to identify environmental and sustainability concerns, interests, and issues. Evaluates efficacy of sustainability programs; recommends and implements improvements as necessary.

  • Take ownership of and implement equipment industrialised by Industrialisation Manufacturing Engineer and support during projects. This will also include overseeing Operator training and Production Support (build, equipment, and software i.e., Drawings, Desoutter, LMS etc).

  • Work with suppliers as necessary for support and work on production equipment. Point of contact for in-depth Manufacturing equipment support or breakdowns.

  • Manufacturing and business systems maintenance; QMS, LMS, manufacturing equipment software.

  • Documentation creation; Work instructions, Risk Assessments.

Skills and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.

  • Thorough and current knowledge of sustainability practices, and applicable laws and regulations.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of assembly and test.

  • Experience in strategic planning, project management, or related roles.

  • Ability to analyse and understand research and to identify relevant and valuable information.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to create, interpret, and execute a budget.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Proficiency in Project Management tools and software.

Additional skills beneficial but not critical

  • Advanced manufacturing Methods and subsequent implementation, LEAN

  • Background in automated assembly and test equipment.

  • Knowledge of HVDC product testing would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of business principles, strategy, and subsequent interface across all functions.
