LOCATION: THORNTON, CO.

Position will be Located at Vantage Point HS and Crossroads Middle School.

Summary: The Dean of Students position works directly with the building leadership team, under the supervision of the building principal, in carrying out the school’s academic, behavior and equity programs with particular areas of focus on school wide systems and supports, student engagement, technology integration and parent and community engagement and outreach.

Job Duties:

• Displays thorough knowledge of building and district attendance policies and procedures.

• Implements strategies that enforce attendance policies.

• Displays thorough knowledge of school and board policy.

• Applies the principles of due process and case law appropriately.

• Presents positive options to students and parents.

• Develops and implements a discipline system and preventive measures.

• Serves as a liaison with outside organizations

• Coordinates various student incentive programs.

• Makes referrals to in-school programs.

• Serves as a member of the Resource Team Review for students.

• Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships with students, peers, and community/parents.

• Adheres to district and building policies, regulations, and procedures.

• Maintains a positive and proactive approach to student motivation and interaction with other students and staff.

• Coordinates conflict management efforts.

• Supervision of extra-curricular activities.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Related Work Experience:

• Must possess or qualify for valid Colorado Department of Education educator license.

• Experience with secondary level students preferred.

• Must be willing to work flexible hours.

Preference given to candidates with ELL Training and/or an ESL or (LDE) Linguistically Diverse Education Endorsement.

SALARY INFORMATION (FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES):

  • Salary placement on ourCertified Salary schedule (https://www.adams12.org/our-district/careers/teach) is dependent on the employees’ education and/or work experience

  • Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years, which includes in-district and out-of-district contractual teaching and/or work experience. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee.

Internal Candidates Only:

13.2.5 Voluntary transfers that occur fifteen working days before the start of the school year and until the end of the school year shall happen once the position being vacated has been filled, for a duration of no more than four weeks. This four week time period could be adjusted in consultation with the educator, current and receiving supervisor and with approval from the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Association President.
