Job Description

This Senior Engineering Project Team Lead/Engineering Project Team role will be accountable for leading global, cross-functional teams to develop, deliver, and maintain Detect technology products for Mining and other markets. This role will be accountable for providing technical leadership for the Detect product line including: planning and coordinating the execution of the technical workstream of multiple NPI programs, supplying technical support for the sales and delivery of products, managing product maintenance activities, defining product requirements, defining product technology strategies, learning and staying abreast of innovative technologies, mentoring and coaching Enterprise team members, and deepening your professional network within technology and mining. This role will require regular interactions and collaboration with external customers, suppliers, internal process partners, and The Mining Detect product line includes the following products: Driver Safety System (DSS - fatigue monitor), Guardhat personnel tracking, site level Proximity Awareness/Collision Avoidance systems, and aftermarket Object Detect systems.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Facilitating the technical delivery and support of products. Focus areas included: NPI program execution, product safety and compliance, validation, quality, performance definition and verification, supply chain support, continuous product improvement (CPI), and maintenance.

  • Ensuring the technical delivery of projects to meet timelines, budgets, and quality targets while delivering on customer requirements; applying good business acumen to make trade-offs to optimize the product and between constraints, when necessary.

  • Managing annual budgets and program life-time forecasts related to product development and research.

  • Defining and managing product requirements, defining application guidelines, and technical strategies.

  • Collaborating with business partners including the machine product groups and ITDD to integrate products with machines for factory fit and aftermarket.

  • Enhancing the team’s creativity and cooperation/collaboration.

  • Representing the technical workstream within the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, across multiple levels of management and with the customer.

  • A strong team leader will rely on a wide network to obtain the resources and cooperation needed to remove roadblocks and ensure the success of their team. The team leader will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds. The incumbent will take responsibility for their development, continuously learning through experience, professional engagements, and career opportunities. The incumbent will gain an understanding of the customers’ needs and application of the product or process, as well as keeping up with technology.


Basic Qualifications :

  • Requires an accredited, 4 year engineering degree

  • Minimum 7 years experience in electronics/embedded software system development and maintenance.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Prior experience with mining and mining products, specifically technology products.

  • Experience with embedded system, guidance and control products, and/or machine automation.

  • Previous team leadership experience.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated problem solving skills.
