Robert Half Staff Accountant in Vero Beach, Florida

Description We are in search of a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in Vero Beach, Florida. The role entails a focus on various accounting tasks with an emphasis on sales tax, payroll, and account reconciliations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and standards, as well as proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare and review information for monthly and quarterly sales and use tax filings for multiple states.

• Generate yearly informational reports related to multi-state income taxes.

• Manage annual report filing for multiple states and multiple entities.

• Conduct monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.

• Analyze account details, identify any problems and suggest solutions.

• Review general ledger details monthly for items required to be capitalized as per company policy.

• Record and reconcile Fixed Assets monthly.

• Prepare year-end audit schedules as assigned for financial audit.

• Review payroll for proper payment to employees on a bi-weekly basis.

• Provide support to the HR Department with any accounting needs. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger is essential

• Familiarity with Journal Entries and Month End Close processes

• Knowledge of Fixed Asset Accounting is a must

• Experience with ADP - Payroll is desirable

• Should have a sound understanding of Sales Tax matters

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred

• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
