Chenega Services & Federal Solutions, LLC , a Chenega Professional Services ’ company, is looking for an Accounting Clerk to provide financial and accounting support for the United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC). The USCG ALC provides logistical support for the aviation fleet for the USCG and other Government agencies. This support includes depot maintenance, engineering, supply, procurement, information services, and acquisition project execution. Within ALC, the Aviation Logistics Division (ALD) provides accounting and administrative support to all ALC product lines and shared support divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the General Ledger to capture and report financial aspects of activities and maintain an internal controls and audit readiness program

  • Provide support maintaining ALC’s general ledger, support ledgers and supporting documentation

  • Supports the ALC’s risk management efforts, and provide analysis of various processes throughout ALC that affect costs and/or budget, and any other accounting and administrative services as needed

  • Support financial and accounting duties of the ALC’s Fiscal Operations (including commercial and government payables), Risk Management, and Cost Accounting Branches.

  • Use applied formulas to test and evaluate detailed and summary accounts for equality and accuracy.

  • Analyze efficiency of both the accounting system and accounting operation procedures and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Perform reviews, analysis, and evaluations of existing and proposed accounting practices.

  • Review unique, unusual, or complex problems/documents to verify accounting data and mathematical accuracy.

  • Prepare drafts of memoranda or letters responding inquiries.

  • Ensure obligations, expenditures, and disbursement of funds are being recorded IAW governing regulations.

  • Compile and prepare accounting ledgers, reports, reconciliations, and analyses on various systems/accounts.

  • Prepare manuals and instruction material that implement change to ensure all management data produced is continuously improved, accurate, reliable, and relevant.

Qualifications

  • Accounting Degree or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to six (6) hours of credit in business law OR

  • Combination of education and experience: at least four (4) years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated general computer skills for accounting environment: e.g., proficient in the use of ten key number pad on computer keyboard.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize common software programs including Microsoft Excel (to include the ability to perform complex functions and create pivot tables/graphs), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Share Point, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, etc.

  • Demonstrated excellent ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and infer requirements for projects based on compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal Government oversight.

  • Possess knowledge of the various steps and procedures required to provide a full range of accounting support for commonly used practices.

  • Possess knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and general accounting practices.
