Ford Motor Company Safety Development Engineer in Mexico

As a Crash Safety Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop the critical safety features for future Ford products to ensure that internal and external crash requirements are fulfilled.

You will be using advanced engineering tools to assess and validate the designs. You will be working closely with the PD engineering team to ensure feasibility and implementation of proposed designs.

  • ​Assess crashworthiness performance for high speed crash test modes by means of CAE tools and physical tests.

  • Perform post-crash test analysis to identify issue root cause and enhance CAE correlation.

  • Interpret CAE/test results and produce concise summaries to be communicated to D&R engineers and Management.

  • Develop component and subsystem level test methodologies to validate designs in preparation for crash testing.

  • Support design progression with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Drive design changes to ensure Crash Safety compliance.

  • Perform optimization studies by means of CAE tools and 6-Sigma Methodology

  • Support and lead technical meetings with relevant stakeholders.

  • Document lessons learned.

  • Participate in global Crash Safety forums.

  • Bachelor´s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent required.

  • Solid basis of mechanics engineering.

  • Basic knowledge of Finite Element Method.

  • High capacity for root cause finding based on test or CAE data.

  • Ability to interface with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Clear communication.

  • Ability to address complex technical issues under pressure

  • Fluent English

  • Works with a global team and collaborative environment

  • Quick learning ability and self-taught mindset
