Position Summary: This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) position that will include selected evening and weekend shifts. Reports to Director of Operations.  

Compensation & Benefits: $16.00 an hour; medical, dental and life insurance; a retirement plan; Paid Time Off (20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 11 holidays). Additional benefits include one meal a day on-site (free except tax) and discounts on educational programs and publications. Depending on availability, and at Pendle Hill's discretion, full-time staff are eligible for competitively priced campus housing.

Job Duties: The Operations Associate provides event support at our retreat center through a combination of clerical and conference sales assistance and being part of the guest services team. Duties include the following:

  1. Assist in registration for guests, programs, and conferences, including reception desk operations, payment, and orientation to campus.
  2. Assist the conference services team with client communication and event organization and other clerical duties.
  3. Set up and monitor Audio/Visual equipment for events.
  4. Set up refreshments for events.
  5. Assist with cleaning and organization of event spaces.
  6. Work with a team to coordinate event details with clients before and after arrival.
  7. Serve as a welcoming resource to assist groups and spiritual retreat guests on campus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Excellent customer service and oral communication skills.
  2. Organizational and time-management skills.
  3. Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand/walk for several hours at a time.
  4. Excellent judgment in proactively handling guest needs or requests with attention to both excellent service and proper function of the organization.
  5. Works well under direction and in a collaborative team.
  6. A welcoming attitude toward members of, and visitors to, the Pendle Hill community. Openness to a wide range of spiritual beliefs and experiences, cultural backgrounds and practices, and differences of all kinds. A willingness to learn or deepen knowledge about Quaker values and practices. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience in event coordination, hospitality services, or customer service.
  2. Understanding of basic Audio/Visual and related technical equipment, and its use and care.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft programs, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
