Robert Half Tax Accountant in Washington, District Of Columbia

Description

Our client, a prestigious international law firm, is searching for their new Tax Accountant. This visible role will work with senior members of both the tax and accounting teams and have true exposure to firm leadership. This position showcases a combination of tax and accounting duties and the opportunity to work with two departments.

This exciting Tax Accountant position will be offered the opportunity to:

  • Support the firm’s partnership tax filings and work closely with management as well as outside experts regarding compliance with domestic and international tax regulations.

  • Conduct tax and accounting research and assist with tax return preparation including Partner distributions and estimates as well as related accounting duties.

  • Work closely with outside tax advisors relating to tax filings including Form 1065 and related form K-1s and state/local filings.

  • Prepare VAT returns and other tax returns including sales and use tax, property tax and other local filings.

  • Outside of tax, work on the preparation of the firm’s required bank covenant reporting.

  • Calculate estimated earnings for Partners and prepare quarterly distributions as well as work with Partners to assist with their quarterly estimated tax payments and the accounting for transactions.

  • Coordinate with Partners regarding estimated tax payments and ensure compliance with tax regulations.

  • Take responsibility for accounting for Partner financial records such as capital accounts and retirement contribution records.

  • Assist outside auditors relating to requests for Partners’ capital information.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field plus 3 or more years of experience in tax and accounting

  • CPA designation is required.

  • Prior experience with partnership tax (form 1065) and related state compliance is preferred.

  • Experience with a public accounting firm is preferred.

  • Proven skills in MS Excel are necessary and experience with a major ERP accounting system is a plus.
