Natchez Trace Youth Academy is a highly-structured 115-bed cognitive behavioral program serving adolescent males aged 10-17 years old. Our diverse team works together to facilitate the changes that become an investment in the future of each young man's life and his family's life. We are located in the beautiful hills of Tennessee between two magnificent rivers, just 15 miles south of Waverly, Tennessee. Our spacious grounds occupy over 120 acres and include athletic fields and alpine tower.

We are seeking a talented Human Resources Director to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. Under the direction of the CEO, this position is responsible for the overall Human Resources program at Natchez Trace Youth Academy. As a member of the senior leadership team, the HRD is responsible for development and enforcement of Human Resource policies, employee development, recruitment and selection, employee relations, and focuses strongly on the integration of the HR program with Operations to ensure employee satisfaction and optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that recruitment and selection are accomplished within the framework of facility policy adhering to EEO laws.

  • Ensures that HR policies/practices are in compliance with the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, ERISA, Child Labor Laws, Unemployment Compensation and Workers Compensation laws, OSHA, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, immigration laws, and city, state and federal regulations.

  • Provides effective guidance to senior management in areas of employment law, compensation, disciplinary processes, and all other areas of the HR function.

  • Maintains excellent working relationships with various state, federal and private agencies such as employment agencies, regulatory agencies, outplacement services or other entities.

  • Effectively interfaces with providers of benefits and other partner services such as the Employee Assistance Program.

  • Makes recommendations, suggestions or contributes to the organization of employee development, including the establishment of an overall plan.

  • Responds to unemployment claims, and represents or arranges for representation at umemployment hearings, court subpoenas, etc.

  • Ensures that criteria-based job descriptions exist and are current for each authorized position at NTYA.

  • Recommends and oversees the development, implementation and continuing maintenance of an effective, equitable compensation system.

  • Maintains the facility Position Control List (PCL) for effective management of personnel needs and budget compliance.

  • Communicates provisions of the ADA as applicable and manages leaves of absences in conjunction with third-party management services

  • Maintains optimal working relationships and communications with all levels of employees and management by personal contact, internal memorandums, presentations, problem-solving, training, at work social occasions and other means.

    Qualifications

    Education

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline.

  • Human Resources certification preferred

    Experience

  • Five to seven years progressive experience in HR Administration, preferably in a healthcare environment. Such position shall have involved significant responsibility for the management and oversight of a HR department, with three years of management preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of the Human Resources field, including appliable federal and state laws and regulations.

  • Marked ability to communicate orally and in writing and to manage multiple competing priorities.

  • Knowledge of benefits administration, compensation administration, techniques of employee develoment, recruitment and selection and other human resources specialties.

  • Technical proficiency with HR systems (applicant tracking, HRIS, learning and evelopment, etc.).
