POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION This position works with limited supervision from the Open Space Superintendent and assists the Parks, Recreation, and Libraries Department in carrying out the objectives of the Department. The Open Space Supervisor provides expertise to oversee and monitor multiple projects of small to medium size and complexity that have been identified to support the Open Space Stewardship Plan.

The Open Space Supervisor will provide leadership, direction, supervision and guidance to a dynamic team responsible for recruiting, supporting, and managing volunteers, providing GIS services, and delivering programs focused on outdoor recreation, environmental education, trail use, sustainability and stewardship opportunities. This position is instrumental in creating a comprehensive program that will establish and increase a culture of nature, wellness and literacy within the City of Westminster.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications Required:

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Park Administration, Natural Resource Management, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, or a related field General knowledge of natural resource and environmental aspects of Open Spaces, parks and trails including knowledge of fundamentals of rangeland ecology and wildlife and plant biology, conservation of natural resources and knowledge of local natural areas issues One or more years of work experience in open space or parks performing project management, planning, or restoration One or more years of work experience in grant writing, implementation and reporting Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record throughout employment At least two (2) years of supervisory experience Experience with budget development and management Passionate commitment to the Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department's mission statement

Preferred: Advanced Degree in Park Administration, Natural Resource Management, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, or a related field Experience drafting natural resource management plans Three years of increasingly responsible full-time experience in open space management or natural resource management
