We have an exciting opportunity for a Flammability Certification Engineer. This position is an individual contributor role that will report to the Senior Manager, Flammability Certification to ensure our products support our customer’s needs. This position is responsible for the research, planning, and execution of the FAA certification process for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. The role is part of the Premium Flammability Certification team responsible for First and Business Class products.

This position does offer relocation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design decisions.

• Represents the Flammability Certification team in internal technical and design reviews.

• Compiles FAA certification documentation for submission to commercial aircraft OEM's and regulatory agencies.

• Responsible for the review and approval of design changes for certification substantiation.

• Performs material selection and material specification correlation.

• Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering project.

• Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.

• Provides technical leadership to a small group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians.

• Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.

• Participates in defining of engineering approaches and in planning/scheduling work.

• Up to 10% travel, based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with standard aviation materials.

• Prior working experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with aircraft interiors.

• Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare and give presentations.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.

• Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and engineering related software programs.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
